Celebrating Sustainability with "Green Earth Evening" at Mirabella Cafe

Sustainable Cherry Hill celebrated its one year anniversary in style with “Green Earth Evening” at Mirabella Cafe on Wednesday, April 22, Earth Day, sponsored by Cipriani Builders. The event was a sell out hit with participants enjoying great company, a delicious four course “green” gourmet meal and some fantastic live classic rock music provided by newcomer, Ashley Jones and longtime rockers, Winkle’s Wanderers with special guest Al Snyder. The diners enjoyed the thrill of winning raffles and a live auction of a “10 Person Chef’s Table” by Joe Palombo. As the live auction heated up, Cherry Hill resident, Steve Cohen threw in some bottles of vintage wine from his home collection and Joe added a second Chef’s Table to the mix. Thank you to auction winners,Jackie Oxenford of PIA Services and John Feast of Janney Montgomery Scott for generously bidding and to Joe for throwing in a second Chef’s table. Those diehard rock and roll fans who stayed long after dessert was served, were treated to an intimate concert by the band. It was an incredible night and raised a lot of money for SCH to put towards our summer Future Search Conference. Thank you to Joe Palombo, Cipriani Builders and everyone who came out and had some fun!

I think it’s fantastic that individuals and communities are coming together to do something to improve our environment. The problems might see overwhelming but if we all, individuals, communities, businesses and governments become more involved…then we might leave this planet a little better off for future generations. We’re trying to do something about the plastic problem. Plastic pollution is a growing problem. More than 150 billion plastic bottles are produced each year and only 20-30 percent is recycled. We felt that something needed to be done and quick. We decided that one solution would be to make plastic bottles more earth friendly. We developed the world’s first truly biodegradable plastic bottle. Our bottles will biodegrade in a landfill environment within 1-5 years. We know that the ENSO bottle isn’t going to fix all our plastic problems but it is a step in the right direction.
