Free Seminar! Go Green-Get Green: The ABC’s of a Home Energy Audit

Go Green – Get Green: ABC’s of Getting a Home Energy Audit

As cool, autumn nights give way to a long, cold winter, New Jersey homeowners may be hearing talk about saving money through a home energy audit program in the Garden State. South Jersey homeowners can learn how they can save up to 30 % on energy costs and increase the comfort, safety and durability of their home at a free seminar.

The event sponsored by Sustainable Cherry Hill, in cooperation with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program, takes place Wednesday, September 30 from 7-9 pm at the Cherry Hill Public Library, 1100 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill.

The session will include a panel of experts to explain how the home audits can lead homeowners to solid energy savings through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program. Homeowners will also learn simple steps to having the home energy audit done at their home and hear from a resident who had a home audit. Cherry Hill homeowner Chris Eattock found out about the home energy audit and rebate program by accident. “My wife came across the program during research we were doing for a home improvement project,” Eattock said. “Without this program, I’m certain we would have spent a lot more to upgrade our heating and cooling systems and not saved as much as we could have on future energy bills,” according to Eattock.

“These programs are supported by homeowners through a charge on their utility bills,” according to Scott Downie, Sustainable Cherry Hill board member and Principal with Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. “So homeowners have the chance to bring this money back into their homes by reducing utility bills and at the same time, help New Jersey become a more energy-efficient state,” Downie said.

At the free seminar, homeowners will also have a chance to ask questions and meet with sponsors, state-approved audit and home energy contractors and others about the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program.
