    …they came to Celebrate*Learn*Grow

Throughout the bright sunny day, April 26, 2014, Croft Farm was abuzz with Cherry Hill Earth Festival activities. Enjoy this Earth Festival photo collage:

We hope you will patronize these sponsors who support the Earth Festival and Sustainable Cherry Hill and take steps to green their businesses and educate customers, partners and others about conserving resources and promoting health and wellness.

IMG_0483 - CopyThe annual Earth Festival is a collaboration between Cherry Hill Township and Sustainable Cherry Hill. Sincere appreciation goes to the Cherry Hill Recreation department and director Megan Brown; she and her team along with township staff help orchestrate the nuts and bolts of the event at historic Croft Farm. Thanks also go to our team of more than 70 volunteers including high school students, Sustainable Cherry Hill members, family, friends and neighbors who lent their hearts and hands to this event. To our green vendors, non-profit organizations, schools, PTA parents, teachers, and school district staff in Cherry Hill – many thanks for organizing such thought-provoking and interactive displays. We also thank all of our Earth Festival performers who made the day even more festive with music, dancing and performances.

Now – What can YOU do beyond the annual Earth Festival? Sustainable Cherry Hill has task forces made up of volunteers who meet regularly and plan education and outreach events. Whether you are interested in health and wellness, green businesses or homes, connecting with other South Jersey communities or any topic you are passionate about concerning sustainability, we invite you to join a task force or contact us is you have questions. We welcome people to lead and create task forces in consultation with our leadership.

The Russell Knight Elementary School community showed their Earth Festival spirit forming the shape of a tree on Friday, April 25. CBS3 flew over the school yard and photographers – including from the Courier Post – were hoisted more than 150 feet by Cherry Hill Fire Department Ladder 24 to get some priceless photos.

Earth-Day-2014The 5th Cherry Hill Earth Festival is receiving national exposure as a partner with the EARTH DAY NETWORK. The non-profit organization this year is focusing on The Green Cities Campaign: The  campaign “will mobilize key constituencies globally to create new and widespread support for environmentally progressive policies.”
