Local teens and seniors work together to plant organic garden
Julie Warshauer, Children and Family Coordinator of the JCC said, “This experience had double the benefits for the kids from camp. They not only had a great opportunity to be involved in an intergenerational program with the residents, they were also gardening and sustaining the environment. It was the perfect example of Tikun Olam, making the world a better place.” Â Emily Sohn, 14, of Lumberton said, “It gave me lots of insight into nature and how easy it is to grow plants. It was great how the seniors taught us.” And, her friend Rachel Smith, 14, of Cherry Hill, said, “This is amazing. We get to socialize with older people. It’s just fun and makes you feel good, too.” Photographed here from left to right are: Emily Sohn, 14, Lumberton, NJ, Donald Kootz, resident of Spring Hills Cherry Hill and Jordan Hendricks, 14, Lumberton.
