SCH in Action: CH Fall Harvest Festival Goes Green!SCH joined other “green” partners at the annual Cherry Hill Fall Festival at Croft Farm. It was wonderful sharing a section of the main tent with the Cherry Hill Environmental Advisory Committee (CHEAC), Recycle Bank and The Rain Harvest Company. TechniArt, a creative marketing partner of the NJ Clean Energy program set up shop out front, selling CFL bulbs and energy efficient lighting fixtures at deep discounts. Hundreds of community members visited our tables, taking one (or more) of our recycled paper pens, adding their names to our data base and buying raffle tickets. Bill and Patti Hoffman of Rain Harvest, a local family run business selling beautiful rain barrels made from recycled food containers, donated a large rain barrel and custom installation for SCH to raffle this afternoon. A huge thank you to Bill, Patty and their adorable girls for this generous donation which earned us $100! They also donated an additional rain barrel for future raffling! Congratulations to the Pedretti family for winning the raffle!
SCH received some assistance from the youth contingency of Cherry Hill with a beautiful and informative display board about the No Idling Initiative made by the brand new SCH at Cherry Hill East and manned by Shelby Robbins and her fellow girl scouts. The girl scouts handed out mock No Idling tickets, brochures and talked to the crowd about the downside of vehicle idling.
Stopping by to say hello were NJ State Assemblywoman, Pam Lampitt, who told me all about the great sustainability initiatives being formed at the state level and Maris Kukainis, Business Administrator of CH Township. A special thank you to Jen Kelley for giving up her day off to coordinate the green aspect of the festival and to support SCH in a big way!
It was a pleasure meeting so many great community members, spending time outdoors at Croft Farm and promoting sustainability with our “green” partners!
