SCH in Action: Movie Night

Last night over 50 community members braved the dramatic thunder and lightning storm to join SCH for a screening of the award winning documentary, The 11th Hour. Â We had planned to show the film outdoors under the stars on the municipal ball field, but quickly changed our minds with the first rain drop! Â The group moved inside to the CH Community Center and settled in for an evening of friendly conversation, education and networking. Â People of all ages came together to learn more about SCH and to watch this powerful movie. Â Leonardo Di Caprio produced and narrated the film, which focused first on how we, as humans, have directly caused all ecosystems to deteriorate and second, emphasized that the time is now to act to turn this thing around! Â The end of the film was particularly inspiring as we were lead from the doom and gloom of deforestation, air/water pollution, climate change, species extinction and soil erosion into the light of innovation and opportunity to recreate our world for a sustainable future.Â
Special thanks go out to Jen Kelley and Cherry Hill Township for hosting this event, to resident, Linda Lincoln for donating three bags of organic tomatoes and basil for SCH to auction off and to Patty Hoffman of Rain Harvest, for donating a beautiful rain barrel for us to use as a future raffle item. Â
Take a look at these great shots. Â Our raffle winners, the Lucas Family, the Robbins Family and Bob Asay, certainly look excited to try their tasty treats! Â
